The summer months have seen some big changes at the centre, so we wanted to make sure that you, our supporters are all kept up to date.
Most of our supporters will be aware that RAK AWC Manager, Ellen Quanjer is no longer at the center. We were all very sad to see her go, but we wish her all the best for the future. Ellen’s position has been taken over by Head Veterinarian Dr. Chenjerai Sigauke.
This month sees the departure of another long serving team member Office Manager, Jenna Blanchette who will be leaving the centre to start a new adventure in Abu Dhabi. Family commitments sadly take her away from Ras Al Khaimah, but she is sure to be a regular visitor and remain a committed supporter.
To assist Dr Chenjerai in the administrative running of the centre, with the loss of both Ellen and Jenna, our newest recruit is Administration Manager, Tania Chernyshova. Tania originates from Russia and has been living in the UAE for the past 6 years, with the last 2 years in Ras al Khaimah. She was a dedicated RAK AWC volunteer for those 2 years and could not help but adopt 2 dogs from the Centre to add to her rescue pack. Tania knows that this journey is not going to be easy for her, but she hopes that her love for animals and desire to make a change, as well as support of Centre staff and volunteers, will help her face the new challenges.
The Centre as an organisation has also experienced some structural changes and now functions under RAK Government Public Works and Services Department (PWSD). Big changes like this can sometimes be scary but we do hope that with the continued government support under PWSD the Centre can make an even bigger impact in Ras al Khaimah and we continue working towards improving animal welfare in the emirate and as always striving to achieve the best in the services we provide.
