What Microchipping Involves

Microchipping is a simple and safe procedure that makes uniting pets and their owners much more likely. The Veterinarian simply injects a microchip for pets about the size of a grain of rice under the skin of your pet between the shoulder blades. The procedure is similar to a routine shot and takes only a few seconds and lasts a lifetime.

The Microchips we use at RAKAWC allow us to enter the owner's telephone number on the microchip. Once microchipped we will enter the unique code and owner information in our database. In the event that your pet is lost and is taken to an Animal Shelter or Veterinarian, they will scan the microchip to read its unique code and owner telephone number (if the microchip is compliant) and you will be reunited with your pet.

Microchips are also a compulsory requirement in the event that you have to travel abroad with your pets. It is important that your pet gets microchipped before it gets its first rabies vaccination since some countries might deny them entry if it is done after the rabies vaccination.
